Below is a list of ALL the currently scheduled events and a brief description:


9/20/10
The Best Foot Forward sneaker recycling program is an initiative of LI Works in conjunction with Ford Motor Company Fund, Goodwill Industries of Greater NY & Northern NJ and with Nike Reuse-A-Shoe. This region-wide (and potentially national) program presents Career Academies with a community-service project that can be linked to industry-focused learning activities. This connects LI Works Career Academies into one, region-wide effort that crosses school boundaries and ties Career Academics together with real life experience.

During the day, 200 Middle School Students will participate in hands-on demonstrations that expose them to Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math. Students will be introduced to career possibilities for them in these fields and will have the chance to immerse themselves in the thrill that comes with

Meet representatives from local nonprofits and learn about their missions and how you can help. The FAIR is open to the general public. High school & college students are encouraged to attend.

This Career Fair and Community Festival will emphasize the importance of going green in every aspect of daily life. Students will also learn about the diverse Green Careers that are open to them in the areas of recycling, technology, cultural arts, fashion, foods, construction, and transportation. High school students, parents, and community members are invited to take a tour of the many expo stations where local business representatives will give hands-on demonstrations that are both interactive and educational.
